First up for 2018 and yes folks it’s FLAT.   But like Skegness very probably bracing…

This is a coastal walk taking in woods around Formby, sand dunes, a lot of open beach (see photo), the remains of the world’s first lifeboat station, and the dreaded ‘Wilderness’ west of Hillside Golf Course.   Into the Wild, only in Pringle…

The walk takes about 5 hours and is very easy going apart from the Wilderness which can be a bit overgrown with some wet ground (seriously it’s simply an area of heath and scrub).  The environment is varied and you can see some good bird life.   There are views from a new angle of Liverpool, Blackpool, and the Lakes/Welsh hills if it’s clear.   It is exposed to the weather and you do need full hill kit.

We’ll start at Formby Station around 10.00 (exact time to be advised when we get the train timetable for next year); and finish at Hillside station, so you need to buy a return to Hillside or an off-peak rover ticket.
