This is a long walk, perhaps the most challenging of the summer walks I've organised. However there are no prolonged climbs and the toughest part is from the Ponderosa to Carrog across Moel y Gamelin and Moel y Gaer but this is the last section which descends to the pub at Carrog.

To put it into perspective compared with past walks:
Sandstone Trail 2015 was 34 miles with 3,700ft ascent
Yorkshire 3 Peaks 2016 was 25 Miles 6,108 ft ascent
The Llangollen Round is 33 miles with 6,600ft ascent.

See the summary route description or full information.
The OS Explorer 255 covers most of the route and the booklet on the full information (£5 +£2P&P) describes the route in detail. I have the book and map if anyone wants to look at them. Many of us have walked the last half of the route so this should be familiar.

We will start from Carrog at 6am, maybe 5am. It's about an hour drive from Wirral. There is parking by the bridge and this cuts out the nasty initial climb out of Llangollen. I expect the walk to take about 12 - 14 hours so finish at the pub 7 to 8 pm.

There are refreshments available at Froncysylite, Trevor and the Ponderosa (open until 5.30pm) however we might benefit from some support.

It is a "circular" walk so if anyone is unable to continue it is quite easy to descend to Llangollen and walk, bus or get the train to Carrog or simply wait in Llangollen to be collected.

Please email me if you want to go so I can get an idea of numbers.
