The area and details of the meet
For this weekend we’ll be based at the Hut in Capel Curig and as usual will arrange hill activities amongst ourselves ‘on the day’.
The mountain Cnight, part of the Moelwynion mountain range to the West of Blaenau Ffestiniog, is a popular day out. The distinctive shape of the mountain when viewed from the West has give it the sobriquet the 'Matterhorn of Wales'.
The mountain gets its name from the old English word 'knight', the silent 'k' being pronounced at that time. It is said that the shape of the mountain bears a similarity to a knight's helmet.
