Now on Sunday to avoid the poor weather on Saturday

This circular hill walk starts from Llandrillo and takes us up into the Berwyn Mountains along a variety of tracks and across high moorland.  It includes all the main summits: Cadair Bronwen, Cadair Berwyn and Moel Sych.

We shall meet at the main car park in Llandrillo at 8.00am.  This is situated directly off the main road on the left before the bridge (coming from the Corwen direction on the B4401).  There are public toilets at the car park but they may not be open due to Covid restrictions.  Parking is free.

Our route initially follows a green lane east from the village up onto the moorland plateau.  We’ll follow this track until it reaches the Wayfarer memorial stone.  At the stone we turn south and strike out across the moors eventually climbing up onto the main ridge and Cadair Bronwyn summit.  Progressing along the ridge we will reach Cadair Berwyn and finally Moel Sych.  If the weather is clear excellent views are to be had.

From Cadair Berwyn there is the option to ‘dog leg’ down to Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall - a great place for lunch on a warm sunny day and an opportunity to bathe tired feet in one of the many rock pools.

The return leg is via Cadair Berwyn summit then descending westwards across the moors, finally joining a single track road for the last km or so into Llandrillo.

The walk is around 20km overall with some 900m of ascent.  It should take us around 7 hours to complete.  If we visit Pistyll Rhaeadr that will add on another 4 km and 400m of ascent.
