Saturday Walk - Northern Clwyds

I reckon this area may be new to many people. The walk is around 8 miles from Rhuallt village mainly on good paths, and takes in the 1000' summit of Mynydd y Cwm (subject to forest operations), the lower limestone hill of Mynydd Marian, and a fair stretch of the Offa's Dyke path. On a good day it commands extensive views. There is around 1,400 feet of ascent. There is potential for extending to walk, subject to all the party being willing and the weather co-operating, to take in Moel Hirradug.

Of historic interest there's a 15th century church, and we start from the old - scarily narrow - A55. 

For any hill baggers out there Mynydd y Cwm is a Marilyn.

Arrangements for the day

Please meet in at the layby on the the B5429 in Rhuallt village in time for a 10.00am start. Please email me to let me know you're coming, and make sure I have your mobile number for the day. My own mobile is in the members only section below, if you don't already have it/can't access it please email me. Conversely please email me to  let me know if you decide to pull out.

The layby is reasonably large but please try to share cars. Please let me know by email if you want or/and can offer a lift, and from where and when you are starting off. I will put details received on the members only section a week before the trip and leave you to take it from there.

To get to Rhuallt from the East, take the A55 to junction 29 and follow the B 5429 into the village, the layby is on your left opposite a closed garage at GR approx 074751. If you are coming from points East of the Wirral, please note for the return trip that roadworks are closing the A55 Eastbound between Junctions 34 and 35 all day at weekends.

Coming from the West you need to leave the A55 at junction 28 and follow the B 5429 into the village, layby will be on your right.
