Meet - 'Some Like It Flat' - birds and history at Marbury
Details - This is a low level hike at Marbury Country Park near Northwich taking in an opportunity for casual bird watching (I've seen kingfishers here) and also some of the historic sights of the area.
It is on mostly good paths but some bits are muddy, it is more or less flat. It is around 5-6 miles long but there are opportunities to cut back to the start to shorten it.
Arrangements for the day
Please meet in the car park at Marbury Country Park (Postcode CW9 6AT; approx GR 648765) in time for a 10.00am start. Please email me to let me know you're coming, and make sure I have your mobile number for the day. My own mobile is in the members only section below, if you don't already have it/can't access it please email me. Conversely please email me to let me know if you decide to pull out.
To get to the Country Park the easiest way for most people will be to go on the M56 to junction 10 and go initially right onto the roundabout as if you were heading south on the A49, go around and take the exit for the A559 to Northwich. Follow A559 south and when you see a sign on your left to Comberbach (and I think Marbury Country Park as well) take a right and go through that village, keep on the same road till the Park is signposted on your left. This car park is pay and display, pay by coins or card. I would get an all day ticket which is £2.50, the 3 hours offer isn't really enough.
As ever please try to share cars. Please let me know by email if you want or/and can offer a lift, and from where and when you are starting off. I will put details received on the members only section a week or so before the trip and leave you to take it from there.
Look forward to seeing you, any questions please email me!
